Principal
Michael J. Fink, PhD
Founder & DirectorMichael is a deep-tech operator and a Harvard-trained scientist. He has spent ten years turning foundational science into venture-backed companies.
He spent eight years at Harvard University in the Whitesides Group. His research in molecular informatics and magnetic-levitation separation chemistry drew multi-million-dollar support from DARPA, NSF, and Harvard translational programs. The DEA later adopted a drug-separation method he co-developed there.
He co-founded two Harvard spinouts. At Datacule, a molecular data-storage company, he secured seed investment from Material Impact, directed the IP strategy, and built the software, optics, and algorithms behind the first working prototype. At VeriChem, a forensic chemistry venture, he delivered the first commercial pilot batches and shared the 2024 Cade Prize for Inventivity.
He then joined Mask Logic in Edinburgh as chief executive officer. He raised seed funding covering roughly three and a half years of runway, and built the R&D, regulatory, manufacturing, and commercial functions from the ground up. He led the company through a structured wind-down in Jul 2026.
Michael holds a PhD in chemical engineering, summa cum laude, from TU Wien. He serves as vice president of ASCINA and sits on the international advisory board of the Faculty of Technical Chemistry at TU Wien. He works from Edinburgh, UK.
